Got my old iPod out and dusted it down to listen to some Christmas tunes and add a few new ones. White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxes is my current Christmas 'earworm', so much so that I have this and two cover versions on my iPod.

Christmas again
Once again we're fast approaching Christmas like a snowball rolling down a hill, getting bigger and faster. Anyway time to revive my poor neglected blogs.
Got my old iPod out and dusted it down to listen to some Christmas tunes and add a few new ones. White Winter Hymnal by Fleet Foxes is my current Christmas 'earworm', so much so that I have this and two cover versions on my iPod.

R.I.P. Slim Whitman
My Mum always loved music and many, many years ago she had a marvellous selection of 78's. I was very young but loved to listen to them on the massive 'radiogram' that used to sit in the corner of the room. We may not have had much money but we always had music.
Amongst the brittle 78's were some Slim Whitman which I know she loved - I knew the words to Rose Marie by the time I was in infant school.
I heard today that Slim Whitman had died and since then the song has been playing over and over again in my head - my own internal Radiogram stuck on the same record - I don't mind, I still love that song and while it plays I can see my Mum singing away in the living room in our old run down terraced house....

Christmas Music
Been listening to some Christmas 'pop' songs today - this George Michael song is beautiful and bittersweet at the same time.

ELO - back to the 70s!
Went to see the film 'Paul' the other week - being a bit of a Sci-fi nerd I really enjoyed it. One of the music tracks used was 'All over the world' by the Electric Light Orchestra. It rekindled my interest in ELO so I searched out my CDs and loaded up my ipod.
In the late 70's I bought a copy of 'Out of the blue' - blue vinyl, double album import (those were the days when import albums had cuts in the album sleeve) I used to play it regularly and sing along . One of my mega favourites was 'Mr Blue Sky'

Oldies but goodies..
Got nostalgic seeing as I'm fast approaching 50. My mother loved music and when I was young we had a collection of old 78s, 7" singles and LPs. I loved listening to them so I decided to see if I could find some downloads on Amazon. I managed to find a few of my Mother's oldies plus some that I loved when I was younger.
My Boy Lollipop by Millie was one of my favourites
